How LoL betting works
LoL betting means placing a bet on the outcome of a professional League of Legends match: the series, a single map, or something that happens inside a map, like first blood or the first Baron. Every pro match is played on one map, Summoner's Rift, between two teams of five. A team wins a map by destroying the enemy Nexus, and most series are best-of-three (Bo3) or best-of-five (Bo5).
New to the game itself? Start with what is League of Legends, a ten-minute guide for bettors, then come back here.
Three things make betting on LoL different from betting on football or CS2:
- The draft decides a lot. Before every map, teams pick and ban champions. A strong draft can be worth more than a gold lead — see LoL drafts and patches and our League of Legends champion classes guide.
- Fearless Draft. In most Bo3 and Bo5 series, a team can't play a champion it already used earlier in the series. Teams with deep champion pools get stronger as a series goes on.
- Objectives beat kills. Dragons, Void Grubs, towers and Baron Nashor win maps. A team can trail in kills and still be well ahead.
LoL betting markets explained
Bookmakers use football words for LoL: a "map" is one game of the series. You'll see both terms, so we show both below.
| Market | Example | How it settles |
|---|---|---|
| Match winner (moneyline) | Gen.G 1.73 vs Hanwha Life 2.10 | The team that wins the series |
| Map winner (game winner) | Map 2: T1 1.85 | The winner of one map only |
| Map handicap (game handicap) | Gen.G −1.5 maps at 2.60 | Gen.G must win 2–0 in a Bo3 (3–0 or 3–1 in a Bo5) |
| Correct score | T1 3–1 at 4.50 | The exact series score |
| Total maps | Over 3.5 maps in a Bo5 | Over wins if the series goes to 4 or 5 maps |
| Total kills | Over 26.5 kills on Map 1 | Both teams' kills added together |
| Kill handicap | Bilibili −5.5 kills | Bilibili must finish with 6+ more kills |
| Race to kills | First to 10 kills: G2 | The first team to reach the target |
| First blood | Karmine Corp 1.90 | The first champion kill of the map |
| First tower | Team Liquid 1.80 | The first turret destroyed |
| First dragon | Gen.G 1.75 | The first dragon taken |
| First Baron | T1 1.70 | The first Baron Nashor kill |
| Total towers / dragons | Over 11.5 towers | Combined total on the map |
| Map duration | Over 32:30 minutes | Pro maps usually last 28–35 minutes |
| Player props | Faker over 4.5 kills + assists | One player's stats on a map |
| Outrights | Worlds 2026 winner: Gen.G 3.00 | The tournament or league winner |
| Live (in-play) | Next dragon, map winner at 15:00 | Prices move with every fight |
Prices are examples to show how each market reads, not live odds. If you combine selections into an accumulator (parlay), every leg must win; one wrong pick loses the whole bet.

For handicaps and series maths, see map handicaps and series betting. Our map handicap calculator turns single-map odds into series prices.
How LoL odds work
Odds show how likely the bookmaker thinks a result is, plus their margin. Decimal odds of 1.73 mean a €10 bet returns €17.30 (€7.30 profit plus your stake). The lower the odds, the bigger the favourite.
To turn odds into a probability, divide 1 by the odds: 1.73 is 57.8%, 2.10 is 47.6%. Those two add up to 105.4%. The extra 5.4% is the bookmaker's margin, so the "fair" prices are a little longer than the ones you see.
American and fractional odds say the same thing in a different format: 1.73 is −137 in American odds and about 8/11 in fractional. Use our free odds converter to switch between formats, and the margin calculator to see how much a site keeps.
How to bet on LoL
- Pick a licensed site. Choose one of the best LoL betting sites above that's legal where you live and covers the leagues you follow (LCK, LEC, LCS and the rest).
- Open an account and verify it. You'll need your name, date of birth and address, and usually an ID check before your first withdrawal.
- Deposit and check the welcome offer. Read the minimum odds and whether esports bets count before you opt in. Our esports betting bonuses page compares current offers.
- Find League of Legends in the esports menu. Choose a league or event, then a match.
- Start with the match winner. It's the simplest market. Add map handicaps and kill totals once you know the teams.
- Set a deposit limit before you bet. Every site we list has deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion.
The big LoL events to bet on
Pro LoL runs all year. Six regional leagues play three splits each, and the best teams meet at three international events: First Stand in March, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) in summer and the World Championship (Worlds) in October and November.

Worlds 2026
Worlds runs from 15 October to 14 November 2026, with 19 teams. The Play-In is in Los Angeles, the Swiss stage and knockouts are in Allen, Texas, and the final is at Barclays Center, Brooklyn. T1 arrive as three-time defending champions, but Gen.G are the bookmakers' favourites. Schedule, teams and odds are in our LoL Worlds 2026 guide, and we break down the outright prices in our Worlds 2026 odds preview.

LoL betting tips
- Know the patch. Read the drafts and patches guide before backing a team that relied on a champion that just got nerfed.
- Respect the Bo1. The first two Swiss rounds at Worlds are best-of-one, where upsets are common. Favourites are much safer in a Bo5.
- Watch the side. Blue side picks first and has historically won slightly more often in pro play.
- Kill totals depend on style. Two scaling teams can produce slow, low-kill maps; LPL teams tend to fight more than LCK teams.
- Follow the objective trades. A team that gives up first dragon may be taking Void Grubs or a tower on the other side of the map.
- Judge form by performance, not the score. A 2–0 can hide bad drafts and lucky Baron fights. Check stats on Oracle's Elixir — see reading esports stats.
- Compare regions carefully. International events are where LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS, LCP and CBLOL teams meet, and the market often misprices cross-region matches.
- Don't bet on your favourite team just because you support it. Bet with your head.
- Set a budget for the whole event, not match by match. Worlds is a month long.

LoL prediction markets
You can also trade on League of Legends results on prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi. Instead of betting against a bookmaker, you buy shares in an outcome from other traders, priced from 1¢ to 99¢.
Read how they work in our prediction markets section, and see current LoL and Worlds prices, fees and contract types in our guide to LoL prediction markets.
