How we rank sportsbooks
Every score on this page is a weighted average of five criteria, explained in full on How we rate:
| Criterion | Weight | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Odds value | 25% | Margins on major markets compared with other books |
| Markets & live | 20% | Depth of markets, props, in-play coverage and cash out |
| Payouts | 20% | Methods, stated withdrawal times, limits |
| Safety & licence | 20% | Regulator, company behind it, safer-gambling tools |
| App & support | 15% | App quality and ratings, support channels |
We haven't run our own real-money tests. Scores are based on published terms, regulator records and independent reporting, cited in each review. Betway is an affiliate partner; that never changes its score.

Where sports betting is legal in the US
In October 2026, about 31 states plus Washington, DC allowed online sports betting:
Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida (Hard Rock Bet only), Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Several more states allow betting only in person, and California and Texas still have no legal sportsbooks. You must be 21+ in almost every state and physically inside it — the apps use geolocation. Latest update: sports betting states in October 2026.
