Multi-operator schemes

  • US: many states run self-exclusion lists for licensed casinos and sportsbooks; enrolling blocks you at the licensed operators that list covers. Lists are often split by product, so a casino list may not cover sports betting or the lottery — check what your state's list includes.
  • UK: GAMSTOP covers all UKGC-licensed online operators. You can choose 6 months, 1 year or 5 years; when the period ends, the exclusion stays in place until you ask to remove it.[1]
  • Ontario: BetGuard, iGaming Ontario's centralised self-exclusion service, has covered all regulated Ontario igaming sites since 14 May 2026.[2]
  • Elsewhere: similar provincial or national programmes exist in many countries.

Offshore and unlicensed sites usually don't honour these lists — one big reason to stick to licensed operators.

FAQ: gambling self exclusion

What is self-exclusion?

A request to be blocked from gambling for a set period — at one operator, or across many through a state or national scheme.

Can I cancel self-exclusion early?

Usually not. That's the point — it protects you during a period when you've decided not to gamble.

Do sweepstakes casinos and prediction markets have these tools?

Most offer purchase or deposit limits and self-exclusion. State self-exclusion lists generally apply to licensed operators.
